Georges "Rush" St. Pierre comes to Kombat Arts for a fun seminar: January 21-22, 2006

The Mixed Martial Arts sensation also known as GSP came by the Kombat Arts Training Academy to hold a weekend seminar. GSP was very friendly and sociable. Over 100 different people showed up throughout the weekend. The participants came from a variety of martial arts including Kung Fu, Karate, Taekwondo, JKD, BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing and Judo. GSP mixed up his techniques to cater to all participants.

Day 1 GSP taught many attacks from the guard including triangle and kimuras. He proceeded to teach some of his most reliable takedowns from the single leg and also different ways to pass guard and attack the legs.

To finish Day 1, GSP got on the mat and rolled with a number of students.

Day 2 GSP showed a lot of his favourite standup techniques including his famous kicks and clinch work. He had the whole gym spar the techniques and Georges even got on the mat to mix it up with the students. He then taught some ground work including attacks from side control and some guard passing. He had the students spar on the ground to solidfy the students' understanding of the techniques.

To end the day, GSP got into the ring and called a different seminar participant every 2-3 minutes to do some light MMA sparring. Not everyone could be accomodated but GSP tried to spar for as long as 45 minutes.

Ultimately, it was a very successful seminar and all the particpants had a great time. We hope to bring down GSP again soon! Thanks to everyone who came out!
