This course was designed specifically for the private security professional. In a lot of cases most handcuffing courses are taught with techniques and tactics that only law enforcement officers can use. Most of these techniques and tactics include the possibility of escalating to an intermediate weapon or the luxury of “immediate” back-up. Private security officers do not have these opportunities; that is why this course is so unique in that it caters specifically to security officers. The course content includes physiokinetics, standing, kneeling, wall, and prone handcuffing, and controlling the handcuff during defensive resistance and tactics to consider during close proxemics.

Tactical Handcuffing

The purpose of this course is to effectively use handcuffs as a temporary partial restraining tool in controlling a subject’s movements during passive and active encounters. Using the proper handcuffing techniques can alter the outcome of a critical situation. Everything from the approach to the actual apprehension can offer the subject an opportunity to counter and/or escape due to bad tactics or techniques.

When an officer is making an arrest, they are extremely close to the subject and open to a counterattack, possibly with a weapon. In a tense situation, the officer may be overconfident during the apprehension, as they may believe they have the subject under control. Possessing the proper handcuffing techniques and tactics will help insure that the officer makes a successful safe apprehension.

Confrontational Handcuffing

This course will teach you advanced handcuffing techniques ~ This is not academy handcuffing. Using principles of physio-kineticsTM the officer is taught how to control and handcuff a non-compliant subject safely and quickly. Modern Warrior® president, Phil Messina, a former New York City Police Sergeant who worked as a decoy officer with the Violent Crime Unit, developed this course. During his time with the unit he averaged one felony arrest per shift. These techniques work! You will learn how not only how to handcuff the compliant subject, but the non-compliant and violent one as well.
